A Start in Business at Age 14

Max’s journey began when he launched his first business, Vertega Clothing, at the young age of 14. Although he generated an impressive R60,000 in revenue, he quickly realized he wasn’t prepared to keep up with production demands. Refunding his early customers taught him the importance of discipline and responsibility. “That experience was tough,” he admits, “but it built my resilience and set the foundation for my future ventures.”

The Birth of Boostify

Max’s knack for creation and problem-solving led him to web design after a school friend, Maurits Neo, needed a website for a course. Despite having almost no experience—just one prior WordPress project—Max offered to create it. Given only two days and knowing Maurits had initially found someone else, Max spent all night crafting a version that ultimately won him over. That project lit a spark, ultimately inspiring him to launch Boostify. “With Boostify, I wanted to go beyond building websites,” he says. “I wanted to create digital experiences that were memorable and impactful.”

According to Max, Boostify stands out as the first agency dedicated to using Framer’s Frameship plugin to transform Shopify sites, providing businesses with highly engaging and visually immersive e-commerce experiences. While Max is serious about business, he knows the importance of balance. Surfing clears his mind and fuels his ambition, while DJing allows him to unwind. Sharing a beer with friends keeps him grounded. “These hobbies help me bring fresh ideas and renewed energy into my work,” he says, emphasizing the role of balance in his success.
